It was established in 1969 as a spin out from a Cambridge University research group. 1Spatial has evolved from this beginning into an industry-leading provider of geospatial supply chain solutions. These solutions are based on standards (such as W3C; ISO ITC/211 and OGC) and through the use of master data based on geometry deliver higher returns on investment for spatial data users. As an active participant in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), 1Spatial was the prime mover behind setting up the Spatial Data Quality Working Group and has participated in the GML standard definition and OWS projects. 1Spatial is also active in the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) working in particular with Autodesk's FDO spatial data translation tools and is committed to the further development and use of open source.
